The Smiling Eyes Scholarship is a financial assistance program designed to assist eligible Walpole families in enrolling their child(ren) in town-sponsored recreation programs.

To be considered, the Smiling Eyes Scholarship Application must be completed by your child’s guidance counselor or school principal. Completed applications will then be submitted to the Recreation Department by the Walpole Public Schools representative. Applications will be confidentially reviewed by the Recreation Director and Recreation Committee Chair on a case-by-case basis. Approved individuals will be contacted with further instruction on how to register their child for Recreation programming.


$75 worth of Recreation programming per child, per season

Funding per child shall not exceed $300 per year

One application required for each applicant

Funds expire at the end of each season and do not transfer from season to season

Funding amount is subject to change, based on availability

  1. Download the application

  2. Bring the application to your child’s Guidance Counselor or Principal at least two weeks before registering for programs.

  3. Guidance Counselor or Principal will then complete the application and submit to the Recreation Department for review.

  4. The Recreation Department will contact you with confirmation if you are awarded scholarship funding.

To sustain this excellent program, the Recreation Department relies on financial support from our community partners - local businesses, community service organizations, corporations, and private residents – to help us enroll children for this upcoming summer.
